I don’t know if many agree with me (I’d be surprised if they didn’t) but Ivanka Trump is a beautiful woman.
She is also a successful woman. She attended Georgetown University for two years, then transferred to the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, from which she graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2004. She has since had a successful career in business, modelled, opened her own fashion line (although she supposedly used rabbit skins in her fashion and I am vehemently against this) and authored a book. She speaks, in addition to English, French fluently and also has an elementary knowledge of Czech. So, she is quite an impressive woman.
But her own father, Presidential nominee Donald Trump seems quite keen to talk more about her looks. And while I am sure there are many fathers who are proud to shout to the rooftops that they think their daughter’s are beautiful, I would imagine less would be so keen for them to be referred to as a “piece of ass”.
For the life of me, I can’t get over the clip above. If I was on a show, television or radio, and somebody called my daughter a “piece of ass”, I’d be furious. How dare you speak about my daughter that way? And even if you think it, why on earth would you say that to HER FATHER? Yet, Mr Trump seems quite relaxed about talking about his daughter in such a way. He even has gone as far as to talk about how “voluptuous” she is. Creepy much?
Regardless of whether you are one of those men who needs to have that banter in your life or not, there are things you just don’t do. And one is to objectify or sexualise your family. It’s down right creepy. So for Donald Trump to say that “if he was younger” and “if he was not her father”, it’s just wrong. Plain wrong. Be proud that your daughter is beautiful. Be proud that your daughter is also intelligent too. Be proud she is a good mother. But for the love of God, do not objectify her.
I guess Ivanka is supporting her father in this election because he is just that – her father. How she can say that he respects women though is another thing. Personally, if you had any doubt about how he views women, just watch the videos of him talking about “disgusting” Rosie O’Donnell. Does that sound like a man who respects women for anything more than their looks?
