One of the bains of football fans worldwide is the referee. When they give decisions your way, you love them but when they inexplicably deny you a goal because of an offside call that was incorrect or they give the opposition a penalty for a dive, you can’t stand them. At least for the most part.
But then there was Jorge José Emiliano dos Santos. Jorge José Emiliano dos Santos de Puto was a Brazilian football referee, known for his flamboyant style. His nickname was Margarida, which means “Daisy” in English.
Margarida brought smiles to millions of people’s faces. Sadly he died from AIDS-related complications in 1995.
